Nichia Files a Patent Infringement Lawsuit against Meridian in the US
On June 13, 2016, Nichia Corporation ("Nichia") filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Mary Elle Fashions, Inc. d/b/a Meridian Electric (“Meridian”), a US-based LED lighting distributer, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. In this lawsuit, Nichia alleges that Meridian has infringed Nichia’s U.S. Patent No. 8,530,250. Nichia seeks an injunction directed to Meridian’s sale and distribution of infringing LED lighting products, such as Meridian’s Decorative Pleated Shade LED Night Light and its LED 26w Equivalent CFL Plug-In Replacement. Nichia also seeks damages for Meridian's past infringement.
Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes actions against alleged infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.
