Phosphors are substances that convert energy from electron beams, electromagnetic waves, and ultraviolet photons primarily into visible light.Nichia's phosphors are used in a variety of applications, including LEDs and medical X-ray applications. Nichia is proud of its world-leading technology.
Phosphors for X-ray
Nichia manufactures phosphors for X-ray applications: Gd2O2S:Tb, Gd2O2S:Pr, BaFCl:Eu, and BaFBrI;Eu. In recent years, these X-ray phosphors have been widely used for baggage inspection as well as medical applications.

Specialty Phosphors
Four types of specialty phosphors are available: Gd2O2S:Tb, Y2O2S:Tb, Y3(Al,Ga)5O12:Ce, and Y2SiO5:Ce.Specialty phosphors are mainly used for image intensifier applications that amplify and improve visual imaging for low-light processes or for converting non-visible light sources to visible.
